What is the best purchase you have ever made? Oh! An interesting question! The best purchase I ever made was shares of Maruti Suzuki, India. I applied through the IPO in 2002, when online submission systems were not yet available. It was a rainy season in Mumbai. On the day of submission, heavy rain and strong wind made it a struggle just to save the umbrella and reach the office of the Stock Holding Corporation of India. Yet I did not surrender to the situation—my instinct was firm to submit the applications, one for myself and one for my wife. We were fortunate to receive allotments.
