How do you write what people actually want to read?
I never try to predict what readers want. One cannot know the choice of all. What matters is art and style—when these are strong, readers respond regardless of subject.

There are many popular writers who do not follow what readers like but stick to their own art and style, and they achieve remarkable success in their work.

My interest in people—their nature and psychology—comes from years of service as a Class I officer in the State Food and Drug Administration. I met thousands, studied their difficulties, and observed their impatience and restlessness until their tasks were complete.
Through this, I learned psychological patterns and developed a liking to help. That impulse led me to write about the functioning of the human mind. Readers responded well, not because I chased their preferences, but because I wrote with clarity and style.

My procedure is simple: study responses, stay on the path I have chosen—the human mind and psychology—and continue.
