Curious Minds.

Someone asked me this question.

Why do the opinions of others seem to matter more when there is a mixture of both good and bad being made about your character?

Answer

By nature, everyone likes appreciation and praise from others.

It is obvious that no one easily digests opinions exposing faults or odd behavior.

When both good and bad are spoken together, the bad weighs heavier—because it strikes against the good already known.

The exposure of faults before those who also know your virtues intensifies the negativity, creating the feeling of losing reputation in their eyes.
